The artist has handed over the complete sum of his £25,000 award prize money to the trust for venues, which functions to protect the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

He was awarded the prize on mid-October as his latest record his work was named the outstanding release of the past year.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the essential function local spots played in his early career.

"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I played around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – about one-sixth of the total UK scene.

Recently, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a modest fee to their admission fees, which supports independent venues.

He also participated, generating over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money helped spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to challenges arising from water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues were granted financial assistance in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that money from shows in major spaces helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," the star has said.

The musician is far from the only musician to contribute his award prize money to worthy causes.

Back when Pulp won the trophy in the year 1996 for their record the album, lead singer Cocker declared that the band would contribute their cash to the charity War Child.

During 2002, musician she split her prize between several good causes, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I gave a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," Ms Dynamite told a publication.

Previously, Ezra Collective contributed their winnings to the community center that developed their band, as well as other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients the group gave their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," remarked singer Heather Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by bringing them into community ownership.

The first in Southampton and the other in the city were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and supporters who acquire "stakes" in the buildings.
